Low, High and Funny

Friday night we invited an awesome group of people over to the house far a great dinner party. My roommate Justin’s parents were in town and we had to celebrate. The menu was an amazon crab topped Mahi, Justin cheffed it up for the night creating a wonderful meal. SOOOOOOO YUMMMMMMY! The only thing better than the food was the company, we had great conversation, wine and a photo booth to add to the fun. I can’t explain how much fun we had the photos will tell that story. My highlight of the night was  a tradition that Justin’s family has called high, low and funny. How it works is that you go around the table starting with your low of the week, many of us had the same low as there was a motorcycle accident that scared most of us but luckily everyone involved walked away. Then on to each person sharing their high of their week, just a couple sentences about the best part of your week. Lastly everyone gets to share something funny that happened. It made for great conversation and I really got to know many people and can’t explain the friendships that have been built and strengthened from last night. I can’t wait to do it again!!!!

2 months and counting

Baby Lily is coming soon! Two of my best friends are expecting their first child at the beginning of May. We wanted to get a few photographs of Amanda since she is the cutest (smallest) pregnant woman I have ever seen. We wanted to make the day really fun so we had Jason sister Michaela come join us to do hair and make-up. Michaela graduated from The Paul Mitchell School and can do things with hair and make-up that amaze me.

Once Amanda was styled up we got to work…

Because her name is Lily..

Then we through Jason in a few…

These are some of the group favorites and really tell more about them as a family…

We cant wait for little Liliana to come!

D.I.C.E

I was hired to photograph the D.I.C.E. summit in early February. For those of you who don’t know D.I.C.E. it is the non-profit organization that stems from The Academy of Interactive Arts and Science. In layman’s terms it’s a very prestigious video game convention including the IAA’s or Interactive Achievement awards hosted by celebrity Jay Mohr.

The week was chalk full of speakers, socializing and events.
There were game rooms, parties, go-carting and golfing as well as poker and lunches by the pool.

Darth Vader and Storm Troopers stopped by to honor the makers of Star Wars 3d.
Many important people in the industry were there including CEO’s from Epic games, Activision and EA (Electronic arts). In addition to these there were many speakers that addressed subjects including the state of the industry, what’s next in video gaming and how to build great games.

The Indie game challenge is a great program where up and coming gamers can submit their games to be judged, Prized topped at $100,000 from Game Stop for this event.
I was able to photograph so many different events and subjects and work with such amazing people, that it made it a fun event for me too!

A Night to Remember

In an attempt to diversify my blog a bit, I am going to write a bit more about my life and being a photographer in addition to posting about the shoots I have been doing lately, Starting with last night.
In a previous post I wrote about the event I photographed at Aquaknox restaurant in the Venetian. Part of my payment was a gift certificate to experience this amazing seafood establishment. To make a night of it I invited some great friends. Jason, Amanda and Chris. Amanda is my best friend and is pregnant so it was Lily’s first fancy dinner! To make the evening even more special we decided to get fully dressed up, the boys in suits and us girls in dresses and heels.

We met and were seated at a great booth, starting with a great bottle of Pinot Grigio and steamers I LOVE Steamers!!!! We went on to order dinner I ordered crab stuffed lobster, the boys ordered Wild Maine Scallops and New Zealand John Dory (an excellent flakey white fish flown in daily) and Amanda ordered Chef Maloney’s fish soup. We all shared so that we could get a taste of everything. We had great food and great conversation. Absolutely one of the best meals I have ever had.

The next part of the evening we went to Blue Man Group a great show at the Venetian. It is full of comedy, multimedia and great music. The band was amazind and the Blue men are amazing percussionist, I think Jason enjoyed that most of all.

For our last stop we went to Grand Lux Café where I was introduced to beignet a dessert I had never had before, and with my sweet tooth it ended the evening in perfect fashion.

Boston Day 1

East Coast here we come! My roommate and I headed out on an adventure. I hurried home after photographing an event at BluNoir @ Tivoli Village to get to the airport and catch our red eye flight to Logan. We got a little bit of sleep and in no time we were there. It was 8am in Boston and POURING rain!  Before we got our bags, before we got the rental car, before anything DUNKS! (Not all Dunkin donuts are created equal. East coast Dunkin is way better than west coast.) A pumpkin coffee and a vanilla regular we were set. We ran around a bit, headed to lunch with Jason’s Aunt Kim and after that NAP Time! We headed to our hotel for a little snooze, a well needed rest because we had been awake since early the day before.  We got up and headed to dinner in Waltham MA with my friends from college. Funny 3 of the 4 of us are photographers and yet we didn’t take a photo of our gathering. After a nice walk down Main Street we headed back to the hotel to get ready for Salem the next day.
